The ATC-SG&O works to provide their students with a unique curriculum that will give them an advantage in securing employment in their chosen industry.
Working collaboratively with local secondary schools, students will complete their SACE in a flexible, work related manner.
Students will complete the compulsory subjects from Stage 1 (Year 11):
- English
- Mathematics
- Australian Studies
These compulsory subjects will be adapted to suit the needs of industry. For example, English will have more focus on workplace communication and Mathematics will centre on the numeracy required for key trade areas.
The students will also complete a range of Group 1 and Group 2 subjects:
- Contemporary Issues and Science
- Work Education
- Community Studies
Some of the Stage 1 subjects will be taught by the students’ current school.
The remainder of the student’s SACE, especially at Stage 2 (Year 12) can be obtained through the completion of their Apprenticeship studies and other VET related subjects, such as:
- SSABSA VET
- Extension Studies
- Vocational Studies
The differences that set the ATC-SG&O students apart are the ‘add-ons’ that the ATC-SG&O provides. Options such as Green Card Training, Forklift licences, OHS&W courses, Industrial Relations courses, Small Business Training, One-to-one Career Counselling and the like.
Local industry will continue to be consulted in relation as to what our young apprentices need to be studying in order to be successful employees.
An example of a yearly plan could look like this:

On Job Training will normally be done in blocks of 3-4 weeks, thereby maximising the learning of the specific work skills.
